Lately I stayed in a fairly new resort just a little North of Ubud center. I knew Blue Karma Ubud through social media and already sent some friends over there before I even tried it out myself. From what I could see on the pictures it was a really cute green resort with private villas surrounded by jungle and rice fields and isn’t that exactly what you are looking for when spending your holiday in Ubud? In the beginning of November I checked in for 3 nights to experience the resort myself.
Location
Blue Karma Resort Ubud is a perfect fit for your Ubud bungalow craving and only 3,2km away from the city center. Set amidst rice fields, palm trees, and jungle the location of this place is exactly what you think of when you dream of a Bali holiday within the countryside. I drove around the area on a scooter and enjoyed the rural life up here. Within walking distance there are lovely hikes, yoga places, and delicious organic restaurants to discover. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle services multiple times a day to Ubud and vice versa.

Villas Blue Karma Resort Ubud
This cute little resort consists of only 8 private villas and a couple rooms. The small size of the resort already brings in a lot of personality and the spacious traditional style villas tucked away in the rice fields at the edge of the jungle will give you that Bali feeling you are looking for. I checked in to a Superior Garden Villa located at the end overlooking the jungle from my floor-to-ceiling windows. The villa was located just a 20 second walk from the pool and 1 minute from reception.
All villas are located around a big infinity pool surrounded by palm trees and rice fields. My villa had a homey and modern interior; the room was spacious and had a reading area with beanbags and a canopy bed. The equally spacious bathroom was located a floor lower, great architecture! The beds where really wide but probably only 1.90m (6’4) long, a little short for a tall Dutch guy like me. :)

Facilities
The pool is definitely the key feature of this resort. The infinity pool is long enough to swim some decent lanes. All sunbeds have a device to call for service and the friendly staff will come and help you in no time. There are also 3 lovely cabanas, multiple beanbags and a hammock to chill.
There is free water and lime available, and all day long there are bananas complimentary for guests. Between 3pm and 6pm the hotel offers a complimentary high tea for all guests, a couple snacks like chocolate brownies and of course different types of tea. I was also offered some fresh coconuts that were cut from the tree right in front of me!
There is a little shop in the lofty lobby area that sells dresses, jewellery, accessories, etc. Exactly that little Bali shop that you see in pictures on Instagram! More hip places on the island: Canggu, Bali. The place were the hip and the (wannabee) famous people gather in trendy eateries.
Restaurant
The Blue Karma Resort restaurant is attached to the lobby and is the place where a lovely breakfast is served. The complimentary breakfast is semi a la carte, semi buffet. There is a wide variety of hot dishes, juices and homemade products available. Every morning I looked forward to the breakfast.

Looking through the many dishes on the menu it was hard to make a choice, also because the dishes are not fully described. I tried out a couple different ones and they all turned out to be really tasty. Prices in the restaurant are really competitive and chilling out an afternoon at the pool ordering lunch from the restaurant is not hurting your budget at all. Try one of the many healthy juices there are so many on the menu and they are all super delicious!
Review Blue Karma Ubud Resort and Spa
This lush green resort was a pleasure to experience and review for my readers. Lovely staff a great location. Exactly what you expect from a Resort & Spa in Ubud. The villas are merged with the surrounding green nature and everything is so perfectly green. I really liked this cute resort and think it is great value for money! This is the website of Blue Karma Ubud for more information. The boutique style of this resort makes it a really quiet place to stay and therefore also great to enjoy with a group of friends.
