Go off the beaten path when traveling in Thailand and check in to the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa, the number one hotel in Rayong. Rayong is a not yet discovered region by mass tourism not far away from the immense popular beach destination Pataya. Travelling East from Bangkok never really appealed to me, but when I was invited by the Rayong Marriott I thought lets just wing it. Actually I had never heard of the region. Exploring new territories in Thailand was great and after I have been to Marriott Rayong I can now say that it is totally worth visiting this undiscovered region of Thailand.

Check in Marriott Rayong Resort & Spa
The sea breeze is welcoming you in the lofty lobby of the resort. This open concept immediately gives you the holiday feeling you are looking for. Look through one end of the lobby and you can see the ocean and the nearby islands. A friendly porter took our bags and we were greeted with a funky blue welcome drink and a refreshing cold towel. We were guided to our rooms were one of the lovely staff explained everything to us. Due to a misunderstanding the suitcases arrived only 1,5 hours later and the staff apologized multiple times, but it was not such a big deal.
Rooms Marriott Rayong
Our Ocean View Room offered fantastic vistas over the resort and the Rayong coastline. Huge floor to ceiling windows gave the room that extra panoramic appeal and from the bed you could spot the islands in the distance. The open bathroom concept made the room look even more spacious and views from the bathtub were equally stunning. The rain shower was a joy as the pressure on the beam was fantastic. The room came with free Wi-Fi which was fast and stable. The connection throughout the big resort was free, reliable and very fast. Great service!
Pool Rayong Marriott
Don’t be afraid you won’t find a lounge bed in this resort. There are plenty around the 3 different pools which you can choose from. The huge main pool has a really cool feature as it has an integrated aquarium where a glass wall separates you from 70cm baby sharks and some other colourful local fish species. This infinity pool also features a basketball court and a volleyball field and activities are organized throughout the day. At the ocean side there is another pool which is a quiet adults only place, next to the excellent restaurant Fish Bar.
Restaurants Marriott Rayong
With 5 restaurants and bars there are plenty dining opportunities. C-Salt is the main restaurant where a typical Thai buffet breakfast is served. At night this restaurant serves buffet dining with great Indian cuisine, pizza, pasta and many more.
My favourite was the seafood restaurant Fish Bar. This grill restaurant has excellent service and delicious food. Sunset cocktails are also amazing here.
Things to do in Rayong
The hotel offers a wide range of activities for its guests. There is a schedule that shows all the planned events for the whole week. There is yoga in the morning, a table tennis tournament in the evening and loads of other activities in and between. There are many things to do in Rayong and around; we joined the easy bike tour which turned out to be a fantastic opportunity to see the surroundings of the hotel.
Aim for a sunset in the Rayong Botanical Garden and you will be blown away by the great views. There is a small 24-hour gym. We also went to a fruit farm with a driver from the resort. We got a little tour through the fruit plantations but mostly enjoyed our fresh fruit buffet: all you can eat exotic fruits. The resort is doing a great job to entertain its guests.
