Lapland Hotels is a hotel chain with hotels throughout Finland. They are Lapland’s leading holiday provider. They have 19 individual hotels located in urban cityscapes of Finland, the hearts of urban fells, the hottest ski resorts and the edges of great wildernesses to the rugged landscapes of northernmost Lapland.
Their selection of hotels offers you options from hiking accommodation to luxury suites and holiday apartments. Lapland Hotels also owns five ski resorts which are situated in Rovaniemi, Yllas, Pallas, Olos and Luosto. These five ski resorts combined means more than 65 slopes and 30 ski lifts! Location
Lapland Hotels Sky Ounasvaara is located on top of Ounasvaara Fell, surrounded by the most beautiful nature. Amazing snow-burdened trees in Winter and the most green nature trees and nature in Summer. In Winter the slopes of the ski center and the ski tracks are literally on your doorstep. Then in Summer amazing bike and hike paths for endless fun can be found here.
Lapland Hotels Sky Ounasvaara brings you close to the best nature out there, but the city center of Rovaniemi is just a short 15 minute drive away.
Mystique Deluxe
Sky Ounasvaara offers several types of rooms and suites. However, only a selected number of rooms offer private saunas. And if there is only one thing I can advise, get a room with a sauna! It gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the relaxing atmosphere of the North as soon as you arrive and whenever you want throughout your stay.
Next to the sauna I specifically liked the ceiling to floor windows overlooking the forest surrounding the hotel.
Sky Kitchen & View
As soon as you walk into this restaurant you will be speechless. The location at the backside of the hotel overlooking nothing but the most beautiful nature and snow covered trees, it’s magical. The decoration and atmosphere inside make it complete.
This restaurant is your place to go for breakfast with a view. Breakfast is always included in your room rate.
But make sure you have dinner here at least once during your stay. The restaurant’s menu is a tribute to the diverse nature of the North and the world’s purest ingredients sourced from the wild.
The Sky Kitchen & View restaurant has been voted among the best restaurants in Finland many times.
Lobby Bar & Shop
In the lobby, next to the reception, you will find the Lobby Bar and Lounge. The lobby has a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere and the same impressive nature views as the restaurant.
After a nice but cold walk through the snow and the Ounasvaara nature, we found the lobby bar the absolute perfect place for a nice hot chocolate and some biscuits.
In the lobby you will also find a small but lovely souvenir shop. If you’re searching for the ideal souvenir to take home and remember your Lapland trip, have a look here. The shop offers a wide range of Lappish souvenirs. We took home their Arctic Pine home spray and hand cream. It’s so good to now have Lapland at home.
Sauna
Some hotel rooms offer a private sauna, which is so good. However, not all rooms have a sauna. Therefor the hotel offers saunas accessible for everyone. Their saunas are heated every day from 5PM – 9PM. Men and women have separate saunas. These saunas are free of charge for guests staying at the hotel.
Rooftop terrace
In Summer this is the ultimate place to relax, unwind and enjoy a nice cold drink while taking in the most amazing views. In winter this rooftop terrace is transformed into the Aurora terrace. Go up there when the skies are clear and face North, you might be lucky and catch the Northern Lights right from the rooftop of your hotel. How cool?!
Staying at Sky Ounasvaara is simply pure luxury. The surrounding area of Ounasvaara Fell invites you to go out and explore the outdoors. Afterwards the hotel is the ultimate place to come home and relax. Enjoying the luxury and quality of the food and service during breakfast and dinner, or enjoying the luxury of having a sauna in our room, I can’t even pick what I liked most.
Staying at the city center can be convenient, but staying at Sky Ounasvaara is what Lapland is all about!
