Looking for a hotel in Arnhem, the fashion capital of the Netherlands? In this blog I will mention 6 reasons why Hotel Modez Arnhem is your perfect choice! Recently I’ve visited Arnhem for a photography workshop and exploring the city of Arnhem for a bit. As a travel photographer, I always want to improve my photography skills for the best results and this time I focused on editing in black and white. Curious about my travel photos? While in Arnhem, I decided to stay at Hotel Modez Arnhem. The name ‘Modez’ is a combination of the words Mode, Design and ArtEZ, formerly the Institute of Arts.
Traveling to Holland? Check out this list of the most beautiful places to see in The Netherlands, including a map of where to find these top sights.
1. Location Modez Arnhem
This charming hotel is located within the ‘modekwartier’ (fashion square) in the fashion district of Klarendal in Arnhem, a couple of minutes from the city centre with its shops and boutiques; a perfect location for a fashion hotel like Hotel Modez. Nearby the hotel you will find several restaurants and cafes to enjoy lunch or dinner.
The hotel is easily accessible by public transport as well as by car. When traveling by train, you can take the train to Arnhem Velperpoort Station. Every fifteen minutes a train will leave from the central station of Arnhem to Velperpoort. There are also several bus stops nearby the hotel and when you travel by car it’s possible to park your car at the hotel.
2. Beautifully designed interior by fashion illustrator Piet Paris
Fashion Hotel Modez in Arnhem is created by (Studio) Piet Paris, a fashion illustrator from the Netherlands. He completed his studies in fashion design at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem. With a group of more than 30 Dutch fashion designers, he decorated the twenty rooms of hotel Modez and created a unique hotel concept. A nice fact is that all designers are connected with the city of Arnhem. Most of them studied at the Institute of Arts in Arnhem and/or have an atelier in the city. At the website of Fashion Hotel Modez, you can check the designer of each room and read more about the design, because all rooms and studios are unique and characterize different styles with beautiful interiors!
I stayed in room number 24, designed by Piet Paris himself. I really loved the room with Piet Paris’ own sketches on the wall, nice paintings and a stairs to go to bed. It is not (yet) possible to book a specific room via the reservation module on their website, but it is possible to inquire a specific room by email or phone if you fancy a particular room.
3. Different types of rooms with Auping design beds
Apart from the different designs, Fashion Hotel Modez Arnhem offers various type of rooms like small/single rooms, comfort rooms, loft rooms, design studios and deluxe rooms with an mezzanine. There is enough choice, so you can choose the room that suits you.
All rooms are provided with a Nespresso machine, a flatscreen television and an en suite bathroom with a shower and toilet. There is also WIFI available in the room. I stayed in the Deluxe Suite designed by Piet Paris.
The room was very clean and fresh. One of the most important things in a hotel is a good night’s sleep, so I really like comfortable beds. Well, with their king sized Auping design bed, Fashion Hotel Modez exceeded the expectations of a comfortable bed! I had a good night of sleep, although the noise of the air control system bothered me when it automatically starts to refresh and light sleepers might be disturbed by the nearby railway line.
4. Bike Rental
Did you know cycling is a common mode of transport in the Netherlands? This country has more bikes than people. For that reason, Fashion Hotel Modez offers its guests the possibility to hire a bike. You can make an online reservation via their website. Online you will find multiply cycling routes to explore the city, what is perfect for sightseeing. By the way; Bicycling in the Netherlands is safe because there are a lot of bike lanes. It’s not required to wear helmets, so you will still look fashionable. ☺
5. Parking
Fashion Hotel Modez offers a private car parking with camera surveillance. If you would like to park your car at the hotel, I would advise you to make a reservation in advance because there is a limited number of parking spaces available. They charge a rate of € 14,50 per day. To make a reservation, it’s best to send an e-mail to the hotel. The reception will assist you further on arrival. I had a reservation for a parking space at the hotel, but when I arrived the place was taken and the reception didn’t know the owner of the car, therefore I had to park the car nearby. Luckily there are other parking possibilities nearby, like the parking ‘Velperpoort’ or at the public (free) parking spaces in front of the hotel or in the surrounding streets. Most of the time, it’s very busy in the surrounding area but I was lucky to find a spot.
6. Café Caspar
Looking for a modern café to have a meal or drink? On the ground floor of Hotel Modez, you will find Café Caspar. Hotel guests can reach this café from inside to enjoy their famous generous cup of coffee or cappuccino, a lovely wine, specialty beer or a dish from their weekly changing (limited) menu. You can choose from three dishes; a vegetation dish, fish or meat. The food is decent and reasonably priced. Just as the hotel, this café is very stylish and cosy and the staff is very polite and helpful.
With the above 6 reasons to stay in Fashion Hotel Modez, I would choose this designer hotel again in the future. Would you like to stay in Hotel Modez in Arnhem? Check out the rates below!
