Sometimes you visit places that will stay with you for the rest of your life, never to forget again. I really think that the nhow hotel in Rotterdam has the most beautiful, amazing and unique view in Rotterdam, may be even in the Netherlands.
Photos often give a distorted picture and things often look better on the picture than in real life. Well, I was stunned and speechless when I entered the room and saw the impressive views of the nhow Rotterdam. Certainly not a distorted picture. In fact, it was much more impressive than I could have imagined.
Kop van Zuid
The Kop van Zuid is a new neighborhood in Rotterdam, located on the south bank of the Nieuwe Maas, opposite the city center of Rotterdam. The Kop van Zuid has been and will be further built on former disused harbor sites around the Binnenhaven, Entrepothaven, Rijnhaven, Spoorweghaven and the Wilhelminapier. These port areas, together with the Nieuwe Maas, ensured a large physical distance between the center north of the Maas and Rotterdam South. By transforming this area into an urban area and by creating good connections, an attempt is being made to unite North and South of the city.
Location nhow in 'De Rotterdam'
The nhow hotel is located along the Wilhelmina Pier and inside the new building ‘De Rotterdam’. The Wilhelmina Pier is the place from where tens of thousands of Europeans emigrated to the United States of America between 1873 and 1973 with the Holland America Line. The name of the building 'De Rotterdam' therefore refers to the flagship of the Holland America Line: 'The Rotterdam'.
The building is part of the transformation of the pier into a living and working area. It can be seen as a vertical city with a mix of different functions in one building: homes, offices, conference rooms, a hotel, shops, catering, leisure facilities and a parking garage. This creates activity 24 hours a day.

Premium Skyline View Room nhow
Take my advice, if you ever get to stay at the nhow Rotterdam, make sure you book the Premium Skyline View Room. It is simply fantastic. Nothing can beat the Rotterdam city and Erasmus Bridge views you get from these rooms. Don’t plan your trip too full, as you will want to spend time just enjoying the views from your room.
This room comes with a large and comfy queen-size bed, a desk and separate lounge chair and a large bathroom with a walk-in rain shower.
There is a mini bar with two complimentary bottles of water and a coffee and tea maker.
Nice bathrobes and slippers can be found in the bathroom.
Of course the room also has a large television. We had room 1901, not surprisingly located on the 19th floor, offering breathtaking, arguably one of the best views of Rotterdam.
Gastro bar Elvy
A super cool and fun place to have breakfast, a quick snack or a late night cocktail, that is Gastro bar Elvy. The bar has floor-to-ceiling windows, so you don’t miss out on the fantastic views while you dine and enjoy a drink.
Breakfast is served buffet style here every morning. They offer a wide range of choices and honestly their breakfast is next level.
It’s all super fresh and homemade, it was so hard to choose. My favorite was a croissant filled with vanilla cream and strawberries, I mean, come on, to die for!
At night, this breakfast area transforms into a modern cocktail bar. They have a wide range of cocktails and mocktails available. All this with that amazing view over the city, cheers!
The bar also has an outdoor terrace. As we visited in winter the terrace wasn’t set up with tables, but you could enjoy the views outside. I can only imagine what this terrace is like on a warm and sunny summer day. Having a cocktail on the outside terrace of Gastro Bar Elvy is one of the best things to do in Rotterdam, for sure.
Fitness and Sauna
Located on the 9th floor of the hotel is the fitness and sauna area. The fitness area is open 24/7. You can access the fitness with your room keycard. The gym has the newest equipment and complimentary water and towels. Not to forget about the city and Erasmus Bridge views while working out.
The sauna is located right next to the fitness area and offers the same amazing views of the city as well. Unfortunately the sauna was booked during our stay at the times we wanted to enjoy the relaxing sauna and views.
The hotel has a small convenient store right next to the reception area, where you can buy stuff you might have forgotten to take, or drinks and snacks for in your room. At the entrance they offer free candy for their guests.
We arrived on Friday night, and upon arrival on Friday and Saturday they even serve free cocktails and mocktails in the lobby. Damn, I really like staying at the nhow hotel in Rotterdam!
I highly recommend the nhow hotel to anyone who is traveling to Rotterdam. The location is fantastic, just cross the Erasmus Bridge and you’re in the middle of the city center. The Kop van Zuid is a new, modern and upcoming neighborhood with lots of great restaurants. Their staff is super helpful and friendly, which always makes a stay more pleasant.
