Philadelphia had been on my list for a long time, mainly for two reasons. The first reason being the important role the city of Philadelphia had in the creation of what we now know as the United States of America. The second reason being that this city was used for the famous Hollywood movie Rocky Balboa. A lot of scenes were shot here, which makes it fun and interesting to walk through this city and movie set!
Location was the key in my search for Philadelphia hotels for my trip. Being located only steps away from the most historical attractions was my trigger to choose the Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square.

Something I didn’t know before staying at the Sofitel Philadelphia, is that the Sofitel hotel group is from French origin. They opened their first hotel in 1964 in Strasbourg, France, and they quickly developed the brand worldwide. Nowadays we know Sofitel as one of the best luxury hotel brands in the world.
The Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square recently received the Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame Award from TripAdvisor. This award is granted only to hotels that have won the certificate of excellence five years in a row, receiving consistently great reviews on TripAdvisor. The Sofitel Philadelphia is located right in the heart of the city. When visiting Philadelphia, and looking for centrally located accommodation, stop searching, because it can’t get any better than the Sofitel at Rittenhouse Square, which is just around the corner. Rittenhouse Square is one of the five original squares planned by city founder William Penn in the late 17th century. Rittenhouse Square is the heart of the city’s most expensive and exclusive neighbourhood.
Luxury Suite Sofitel Hotel Philadelphia
Sofitel Philadelphia decided to upgrade me to a luxury suite, which comes with everything you can wish for. A large bathroom, large living room, two televisions, fabric shoe and laundry bags and the comfiest bed ever.
These suites Sofitel Hotel Philadelphia come with a few extra luxuries, some of which I had never heard of before. Like when they knocked on the door the first evening of my stay, when I was just back in my room after a full day of visiting Philadelphia.
Did I want turndown service. What? I needed some explanation, but it’s an extra service where they make up your bed, close the curtains, bring you some chocolates and some water, all to get you set for the night. Thank you Sofitel at Rittenhouse Square for making me feel so welcome.
Restaurants Sofitel Philadelphia
Start your day with an a la carte breakfast at Brasserie Chez Colette. Breakfast is served here daily from 6AM until 11AM. Enjoy the art of French cooking here before you head out.
During the weekends, and at busy times, they also serve buffet breakfast, but usually it is just a la carte.
Located near the lobby of the hotel is the Liberte Blue, a café and restaurant. It’s a chic lounge, your perfect place for cocktails and bites.
Hotel benefits Sofitel Philadelphia
The Sofitel has a 24-hour gym, located on the 4th floor of the hotel. This gym is accessible with your room key at all times. Water and cooled towels are provided here.
Also very easy when travelling by car to this hotel in the middle of the city is valet parking! Upon arrival you’re greeted by the friendly bell man. Hand in your key and start enjoying the luxury life at the Sofitel.
I have often seen pools or spa’s at hotels, but never have I seen hotels offering in-room spa services. Guess what, the Sofitel Philadelphia does! Want to get pampered but don’t feel like leaving your room? Order these spa services and just relax and enjoy!

Something I think is pretty cool to metion, is the Sofitel Boutique. An online shop where you can buy the official home collection for Sofitel hotels, their famous beds, quality hotel bedding, linens, sheets, bath linens, home décor and much more! French joi de vivre at your own home!
A good night’s rest is everything when travelling. No matter how busy your day is, after a good night’s rest, you’re ready for a new day of exploring. And boy, did I have some good nights at the Sofitel at Rittenhouse Square. Their beds are top of the league! I’ve seen many hotels and beds, but the Sofitel Philadelphia bed stands out way above any other. I’m still considering buying one for at home.
The Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square is the perfect base for a leisure or business trip to the city. You can easily explore the city by foot if you want to, as most attractions are located very close to the Sofitel.
