After the big success of the Namibia Group Trip in April, I am happy to announce another Traveltomtom Namibia Group Trip! My last group was so enthusiastic about the destination and your demand for another Namibia group trip was impressive and therefore I put together one more trip to Namibia.
If you haven’t seen the recap video of what our trip to Namibia was like in April then I recommend you to check out the video below that I out together.
The trip will more or less be the same with some small changes:
- There is 1 day camping involved in a stunning destination with a million stars instead of a tented camp. The difference is that there are NO shower facilities that night. Toilets yes! Camping gear and everything else is of course taken care of.
- Staying overnight in the famous place where we will have lunch with the giraffes.
Why camping? Adding even more adventure to the itinerary! Just this 1 night, but sleeping out in the desert will give us the opportunity for endless star gazing and trust me the night sky in Namibia is like you have never seen before.
When?
July 22nd, 2021 is when I will be welcoming everyone in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
How long?
We will be traveling in Namibia for 9 nights, 10 days. So our tour ends on July 31st in the morning.
You can't make it on this group trip or have you visited Namibia already? Check out my Group Trip Page and check out all my planned Group Trips for 2021.

I will also start inviting a very selected group of people (1 or 2) for last minute crazy travel adventures to countries like: South Sudan, Somalia, North Korea, Trans Siberian Express. Are you ready? Get those invites straight into your inbox and see it first!
Where does the tour start?
The Traveltomtom Group trip will start in the capital of Namibia, Windhoek and will also end in Windhoek.
Flights to Windhoek
As for now the most convenient way to fly to Windhoek from Europe is the direct flight from Frankfurt. Another popular route is through Addis Ababa with Ethiopian Airlines or flying to Johannesburg or Cape Town and then take a short flight from South Africa to Windhoek, Namibia.
Airport transfers are included! You will be picked up and dropped off at the International Airport in Windhoek.
Travel restrictions Namibia
At the moment travelers arriving in Namibia will need to show a negative PCR test taken 7 days prior to arrival into the country. This is likely to change over time, we never know. But it is very unlikely that restrictions will become tighter.
Negative PCR test traveling back to your country
As almost every country these days require a negative PCR test to go back home, I have added an extra day in Windhoek to make sure everyone gets tested in time to fly back home.
PCR tests are at your own expense! More about travel insurance below.
On day 8 we will come back to Windhoek in the afternoon and a drive through testing facility is within a 5 minute taxi ride. Test results will be emailed within 24 hours. Costs are around $60 USD.
Group size
For logistical reasons there is a maximum of 8 to 9 people on the Traveltomtom Namibia Group Trip in July.
Transportation
We will be traveling Namibia with a big 4x4 safari vehicle with AC and a pop-up roof for the whole trip.
Accommodation type
There is the option for a single room (single room fee applicable), but accommodation during the trip is based on sharing twin rooms. Pairs will be formed voluntarily during the trip, solo travelers MORE THAN WELCOME!
We will be staying overnight in very nice hotels and lodges! See the itinerary for photos of the lodges we stay in.
Are meals included?
Yes almost all meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner (B,L,D) will be included throughout the tour. When not, it will be stated below in the itinerary
The Traveltomtom Group Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek
On arrival at Windhoek International Airport you will be collected and transferred into the city to our accommodation. Windhoek is the capital on Namibia.
You will be staying in a twin room with en-suite bathroom at Chameleon Backpackers. On our first day meals are at your own expenses. Chameleon Backpackers has a pool and ice cold beers!
Since everyone will be arriving at different times, there is a free schedule that day in Windhoek. I wrote a blog post about the best things to do in Windhoek, so you can pick your favorite. I will of course be around as well and happy to guide you.
Meals: -
Included Activities: Airport pick up
Optional Activities: Free Walking Tour
Day 2: Etosha National Park (B,L,D)
We will start the day early and meet our tour guide for the next 7 days around 7:30am and will head towards one of the best places to visit in Namibia: Etosha National Park.
Along the way we will be stopping at a big supermarket for some additional snacks you want to buy AND drinking water.
Upon arrival in Etosha National Park we kick off with a game drive in the park visiting waterholes. Expect to see: zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, antelopes and if you are lucky some big cats.
We will spend the night inside Etosha National Park at Halali Camp.
There is a flood-lit waterhole 5 minutes walk from your room. Last group trip we only saw an owl, but when I was there the first time I sat there for hours in silence with a group of people watching animals sneaking out of the bushes to come drink at the waterhole. Rhinos, jackals, antelopes and much more.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Included Activities: Guided game drives in our safari vehicle
Day 3: Etosha National Park (B,L,D)
As we head out super early before sunrise, breakfast is served after we are done with our morning game drive. A great way to wake up and hoping to catch a glimpse of the predators in the park: lions, leopards, cheetahs.
After breakfast we check out and head for more safaris in Etosha National Park and will also visit the impressive Etosha Pan “great white place”, a 4500 sq km salt flat. We can get out of the safari vehicle here to experience this unique geological phenomenon.
After lunch in the park we will do our final game drive through Etosha National Park before we experience a magical sunset in Etosha National Park.
Accommodation tonight is just outside Etosha National Park in the very nice and spacious twin rooms at Etosha Village. There is a pool to cool down!
Dinner at Etosha Village was one of the best buffets I experienced on my trip in Namibia with bbq meat from zebra, antelope and other game meat.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Included Activities: Guided game drives in safari vehicle
Day 4: Spitzkoppe (B,L,D)
After breakfast we continue our Namibia trip to meet Namibia’s unique tribe people: Himba, Damara and Herero. Our knowledgable guide will explain all about these tribes and we will stop along the road to visit their small markets where they sell their handmade souvenirs.
It is a great way to learn a little more about these people and how they live. At the Himba people, the ones without proper clothes we will do a little tour.
Bargain with them for authentic Namibia souvenirs to bring home.
Final destination of the day is Spitzkoppe, a beautiful mountain range.
Here is where I decided to change the itinerary a little from my last group trip as we go camping int the wild. Tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows, etc are provided. Heads up: there are NO shower facilities that day.
In return you will be able to spend the night under the incredible Namibian night sky. It will be my first time as well, but according to our guide, most people don’t even sleep in the tent, but simply outside.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Included Activities: Tour around a Himba village, sunrise and sunset hike in Spitzkoppe
Day 5: Swakopmund (B)
An easy morning at Spitzkoppe before we head towards Swakopmund. A short ride will get us to the super laid-back beach town of Swakopmund.
We will arrive in Swakopmund and check into Hotel a la Mer. Today there is a free afternoon for everyone. Optional activities here are: skydiving, a scenic flight over Skeleton Coast, sand boarding, etc.
Or just explore the super laid-back city of Swakopmund. There is a beach, a pier, restaurants, nice coffee places, etc.
Evening is free as well. Last group trip we all went to a nearby restaurant and had a lot of wine.
Meals: Breakfast
Optional activities: skydiving, sand boarding, scenic flight.
Day 6: Namib Desert (B,L,D)
This morning we start with an ATV tour through the desert nearby Swakopmund before we get back to the hotel and check out.
Then we drive into the famous Namib Desert where we arrive before sunset at the Desert Camp, a unique location in the Namib Desert with a pool with gorgeous views. We can climb to the top of the rock for an incredible sunset over the Naukluft mountain range.
Dinner is prepared by our guide, there is a bar that serve drinks.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 7: Namib Desert (B,L,D)
We stay 2 nights in this beautiful place, so no need to pack.
We leave early though to arrive at the National Park gate before sunrise. Today we visit one of the most famous places to visit in Namibia: Sossusvlei & Deadvlei.
We will be hiking up and down sand dunes at your own pace before arriving into Deadvlei. There is no need to hike up sand dunes to get to Deadvlei, but the views from above are magnificent.
On our way out of the National Park we stop at the famous Dune 45. Climbing to the top is incredible, but optional. Last group trip everyone was so exhausted we went back to the camp to chill in the pool.
Our guide will prepare dinner while we enjoy the sunset from the pool with drinks.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 8: Back to Windhoek for PCR test (B)
Unfortunately I have to included this stop in our itinerary as we probably all need a negative PCR test before our flights out of Namibia.
From the Namib Desert we will drive straight back to Windhoek in time and those who want can get a PCR test taken.
We will spend the night at Chameleon Backpackers in shared Twin rooms. There is a pool at our accommodation and a bar of course. Dinner is at our own expense. There are some cool rooftop bars in Windhoek to go for drinks.
Day 9: High Tea with Giraffes at Voigtland Guesthouse (B,L,D)
After breakfast in Chameleon Backpackers we head out to Voigtland Guesthouse where we check in for our last night of the trip.
I discovered this place on my last trip to Namibia and decided straight away I wanted to include this in my next group trip.
We will be welcomed with a high tea on a platform where you can feed giraffes. This very charming guesthouse is located in an old farm and only has 5 rooms available.
Therefore to those who choose to pay extra for a single room... at Voigland Guesthouse a single room supplement is NOT possible! We will all have to share!
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Optional activities: hiking trips
Day 10: Saying Good Bye (B)
Enjoy a last morning breakfast and hang out at the lovely Voigtland Guesthouse before departure to Windhoek International Airport. I will arrange your airport drop off according to your flight schedule.

International flights to Windhoek
Best way to find flights to Windhoek is through Google Flights, Kiwi, Skyscanner or Kayak.
In case you want to arrive in Windhoek a day or so earlier, that is not a problem and arrangements can be made for your airport pick up. Extra nights accommodations at your own expense.
Travel insurance
Everyone will need to take care of their OWN travel and cancellation insurance. Standard travel insurance covers Namibia, if not I can recommend the World Nomads travel insurance. Check below for a quotation.

If you are selected to join the group trip I will share the payment details with you and I will secure your spot for the next 48 hours. When the payment is completed, I will confirm your participation straight away.
