Jasper National Park was one of my favorite places to visit on my 2-week Alberta itinerary in winter. The little town of Jasper is beautifully located in the National Park and a true paradise in winter for those who are looking for adventurous things to do. Whether you are looking to go hiking, spotting wildlife, skiing, canyoneering... you can find it in Jasper in winter.

Whoever thought that a winter city trip to Edmonton would be a cool thing to do? Me neither until lately I discovered a whole different side of this city when visiting in February. Edmonton has many activities and attractions that are specific for winter. It creates a winter wonderland with free and fun things to do. Totally worth visiting.

In February 2020 I had the privilege to travel to Alberta and explore its winter wonderland. Never had I see so much snow and Im an avid winter adventurer. Im from Europe and winters in Europe do not even look a tiny bit like winters in Canada. In this blog I will take you along my 2 weeks itinerary in Alberta and give you tips on where to stop and what to do.

Did you know there are plenty opportunities to spot wildlife in Alberta in winter? Although all bears are obviously having their winter sleep and there are less birds in winter, you are still able to spot lots of animals in Alberta, like elk, deer, moose, goats, bighorn sheep, coyotes, wolves, owls, birds, bison and the elusive lynx and cougar or mountain lion. Therefore, I would recommend spotting wildlife as one of the best things to do in Alberta in winter.
